... Yes, But What Have You Done for Me Lately?
One of the contributors to the online forum I participate in is a staunch anti-Trumper. First citing her long-standing Republican credentials and the years of effort she put in as an attorney fighting Democrat voter fraud in the state where she resides, she recently declared that, following the 2020 election, “Trump exhausted all his legal remedies and… forfeited, by word and deed, all claims to the presidency.” She went on to “celebrate” Mike Pence for certifying the election notwithstanding the building avalanche of evidence of all manner of election irregularities all across the country, particularly in critical swing states.
Noting that in fact Trump has never been allowed a single evidentiary hearing where evidence of election fraud could be presented and examined in a fair and open manner, I countered that Trump, far from having “exhausted his legal remedies”, had in fact been stonewalled by the legal system. By means of all manner of specious legal sophistry and technicalities, he has effectively been denied access to the remedies the legal system should have afforded him. For the anti-Trumpers in control of that system, getting at the truth was never the objective. Denying the evidence an open, honest hearing was the whole point, and to this day that evidence has never been properly aired, resulting in an unresolved and unhealthy schism among the people wherein half or more of the citizenry believe the 2020 election was stolen.
I went on to suggest to this lady that her life-long Republican Party affiliation and her "thousands of hours" fighting Democrat election fraud were all now meaningless. As the saying goes, "Yes, but what have you done for me lately?"
What matters is not what this lady or any of the rest of us have done in the past, but what we are doing now - how we, each of us, quite apart from our personal likes or dislikes, our preferred outcomes, are prepared to orient ourselves to the truth - the way things really are and really work. Our free and democratic Republic stands or falls based on the integrity of our elections. If our electoral process is compromised and manipulated, “government of the people, by the people, for the people” no longer exists, the voice of the people has been silenced, and the Republic overthrown.
What really happened in the 2020 election?
Quite apart from what anybody thinks about the man Donald Trump or the man Joe Biden, what matters is the integrity of our electoral process. Since this great nation lives or dies based on what happens to the rule of law, and our elections are governed by the rule of law, the sanctity of our electoral process should be the focus of every informed, enlightened citizen. No issue is more central to the vitality and viability of the Republic. Was the 2020 election stolen or not? Was the law broken or not?

Accordingly, however they may label themselves, however much they may tout their conservative credentials, those who are opposed or indifferent to getting at the truth of what actually happened in the 2020 election, regardless of who won, are enemies of the Republic. Those who support the pursuit of that truth are true patriots and friends of the Republic. The question must be answered. There will never be peace among us until it is.
As I have observed in the past, among his many other accomplishments on behalf of the country, DJT has served as a lightning rod, splitting the political ether, separating the intellectual, moral and spiritual wheat from the chaff among the people. Thanks to Donald Trump it is now possible to recognize the enemies of our constitutional Republic and draw out the battle lines with a greater clarity than ever before since the days of the Revolution.
Here is a simple test that works to separate the sheep from the goats:
Who is willing to support all necessary effort to get at the truth of what happened in the 2020 election, and who is not?
These are the times that try men’s souls…
