Abortion: Window on the Rot in the Human Soul
I have recently mentioned my participation in an online forum. Today, one participant in that forum, in response to the bruhaha generated by the recent SCOTUS decision on Roe v. Wade, asserted that “when life begins is a deeply complex question”.
Here is my response:
When life begins is "a deeply complex question" only among the intellectually, morally and spiritually corrupt and defunct - people seeking to camouflage and speciously justify their own evil.
Human life is obviously and undeniably a continuum. That continuum obviously and undeniably begins at conception and ends at death. What the condition and circumstances of that individual human life are at any one point along that continuum is different from what they are at any other point, but all along the continuum it remains what it is - a human life. I believe this is unassailable logic among those capable of it. Arguing otherwise is the height of illogic and prima facie evidence of degenerate intellectual, moral and spiritual corruption and depravity.
Likewise, arguing that it is all right to kill an individual human being at some points along its continuum but not at other points is also outrageously illogical and effectively degrades and dismissed the idea that human life as a whole has ultimate value. Instead, rather than being considered in its entirety and being held sacred from start to finish, human life is reduced to whatever value the current observers arbitrarily choose to impute to it. As those who read history are aware, for those possessed of this mentality, there are no limits. As concerns human life, all things become possible for them, including this:
By the logic used to justify abortion, one could just as easily and logically argue for euthanasia (the killing of those deemed hopelessly ill), the killing of the aged (senicide), the deformed, the autistic or those otherwise mentally impaired, or indeed the killing of human beings at any arbitrary point along the continuum of their lives for any reason whatsoever.
Once the idea is rejected that human life, from start to finish, has supreme value, and the idea embraced that life can be truncated into separate pieces or segments that have different values to be arbitrarily determined and assigned by the observers - that is, once there is no more a transcendent absolute value attached to human life - we are on a slippery slope. Indeed, invariably, from that point on, it is just a matter of time before corrupt human nature, in relentless pursuit of its own corrupt objectives, will dispense entirely with any sort of ultimate intellectual, moral or spiritual value attached to human life.
Indeed, we have witnessed this inexorably decent into the moral abyss in the case of abortion, where some of its proponents are now arguing not just for first-trimester abortion, or second-trimester, or even full-term abortion, but for "post-birth abortion" - the murder of an infant after it is born. - logically arguing, however speciously and demonically, that, if pre-birth abortion is ethical, so is post-birth abortion. - implicitly acknowledging that human life has the same value - or no value - anywhere along its continuum. We have witnessed this hellish progression from evil to greater evil in past history, and, given that Godless, unregenerate human nature, the driver of such depravity, is ever-present with us, we will certainly witness it again. The Godless degenerates are alive and well among us.
Accordingly, what is really at issue in this is not the true nature of human life - something that is so clearly and logically what it is - or any honest, intelligent discussion in relation to it, but the stunning revelation of the self-serving, murderous corruption and deadness of the degenerate, vicious human soul. What a given society is willing to tolerate in relation to the value it places on human life - notwithstanding the sophistry they may bring to bear to argue for or justify their depravity - is nothing but an expression - perhaps the ultimate expression - of the collective societal soul - the sum total of the rot in the individual souls of all who make up that society.
Evil - what some people, in pursuit of their own selfish objectives, are willing to have other people suffer.
These are the times that try men's souls...
