GOOD VS. EVIL - A SIMPLE TEST
As media personality Bill Maher has reportedly been quoted as saying:
“The truth gets in the way of getting things done.”
Indeed, truth invariably does get in the way of getting things done - evil things done by evil people.
The primary, existential challenge of human existence is to confront and come to grips with reality - truth - the way things really are and really work - in the most productive way possible. The further up that scale we move, the more we prosper and the brighter the light shines, and vice versa. One might say, this - an inalienable right freely to seek after, learn and know the truth - is the sort of "natural law" - perhaps the core natural law - the Founders of America had reference to as God-given and inalienable.
To prosper, then, in the grand scheme of things, we must have access to truth. As the good Lord put it:
"You shall know the truth, and the truth will make you free."
Conversely, by the same logic, without a knowledge of the truth, freedom is impossible.
What kind of people, then - what kind of motives and ambitions - would seek to prevent others from learning the truth about anything? Clearly, people who are up to no good...
God wishes us to be free. Satan seeks to enslave us.
"...That Satan ... is the same which was from the beginning, and he came before me, saying—Behold, here am I, send me, I will be thy son, and I will redeem all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost, and surely I will do it; wherefore give me thine honor.
"But, behold, my Beloved Son, which was my Beloved and Chosen from the beginning, said unto me— Father, thy will be done, and the glory be thine forever.
"Wherefore, because that Satan rebelled against me, and sought to destroy the agency of man, which I, the Lord God, had given him, and also, that I should give unto him mine own power; by the power of mine Only Begotten, I caused that he should be cast down; and he became Satan, yea, even the devil, the father of all lies, to deceive and to blind men, and to lead them captive at his will, even as many as would not hearken unto my voice."
- Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Book of Moses 4:1-4
The truth never hurts people. Deceit, however speciously it may be justified, always does.
For their own self-serving reasons, those who deceitfully propose to obstruct others’ access to a correct understanding of things - those who distort or outright lie - are in effect denying their victims their God-given right to learn the truth and become free. They seek to deny them the right and opportunity to understand and respond to their environment and circumstances as they think best, to build their lives and being in the great school of reality, as God intended. Thus, these tyrants are seeking to nullify something fundamental to the very definition of what it means to be a human being - the free agency of man.
The root of this satanic mentality - this desire to control others' access to the truth - a correct and thorough understanding of things as they really are and really work - is invariably either arrogance or greed - power or money - or a combination of both. It has been so from the beginning. Isaiah has it as follows:
"How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High."
- Isaiah 14:12-14
As tyrants always have done and do today, Satan, advocating a plan that was the diametric opposite approach to that of the Father and the Son, sought to gain supreme power by destroying the free agency of mankind, establishing himself in absolute power over them, thereby elevating himself, as he saw it, to the level of God himself. Had he prevailed, the evil he would have done to his fellow men in the process of pursuing his ambitions would have been incalculable.
This dovetails nicely with my preferred definition of evil - what some people, in pursuit of their own selfish objectives, are willing to have other people suffer.
We see this mentality regularly expressed in the catalog of Big Lies that are regularly perpetrated against the people - among them colossal deceits like man-made global warming, the whoremongering that is our government's fiscal (spending) policy, wokism, the transgender industry that mutilates children, the great Covid pandemic swindle and attendant deadly mRNA vaccine assault on billions worldwide, the nation’s open borders, and the World Economic Forum's attempts to convince the world that we are and ever will be in a "perma-crisis" - one existential threat to mankind after another - in order to keep the population in a constant state of cringing, subservient, compliant fear, thereby facilitating the globalists' and their cronies' control over the entire world (see Dr. Michael Nehls, MD, PhD's book "The Indoctrinated Brain" for an explanation of the underlying brain physiology that supports this grand scheme of control).
As we have witnessed most horrifically in the millions killed and injured by the poisonous mRNA vaccines - and the almost universal, official efforts to cover up and deny the scale of the vaccine carnage - these monsters have no concern - not a second thought - regarding the death and suffering they have wrought and continue to this minute to wreak on their fellow human beings as they relentlessly pursue their satanic goal to attain complete and permanent power over the lives and resources of the whole of mankind.
It follows, then, that there is in all this an excellent way to measure good and evil in the world around us - in the people, the causes, the governments, the policies, businesses, the news, entertainment and interpretations of things served up to the people by the media - the total cacophony of our interface with the world around us.
Here it is:
Those who, for whatever reason, seek to hide the truth - whatever that specific truth may be - have, at the most fundamental level of things, aligned themselves with evil. Those who rigorously and fearlessly pursue and stand up for the truth are on the side of good.
Obviously, there are many on the evil side - very smart and calculating people who, embracing P.T. Barnum's observation that "there's a sucker born every minute", do not intend for us to know the truth, work systematically to hide it from us, and fully expect that we will not see through their deception.
So how, then, in a complex world characterized by information overload, does one tell the difference between truth and a lie?
As I have long maintained, you may not know all the details of a particular issue at hand, but you do have an effective way to blow away the smoke and zero in on the truth:
"The credibility of WHAT you see argued is directly a function of HOW it is argued.
"Find the truth in the methodology of argument. The truth can be argued for in an honest, open manner that does not insult the intelligence of those it seeks to persuade. Deceit cannot be so argued."
Along these same lines, a reader might like to refer to my earlier Substack post:
“The Left’s Deceitful War of Words”
Fortunately, we live today in a world where the contrast between truth and lies has never been more blatant. If you can’t figure it out today, you never will. Those who lie these days think so little of the intelligence and perception of their audience that they lie unabashedly, right in our faces, entirely lacking in subtlety. As we witness the corrupt output of the political class and their toadies in the media, do any of us pass a single day without feeling the sting of having our intelligence insulted by those who seek absolute control over us?
Good luck sorting things out. Everything that matters is at stake.
Right vs. wrong, truth vs. lies, reality vs. fantasy, law vs. lawlessness, order vs. chaos, patriotism vs. treason, liberty vs. tyranny, light vs. darkness, good vs. evil, happiness vs. misery, God vs. the Godless…
What’ll it be folks? Time to choose…
If you can be fooled, you will be…
These are the times that try men's souls...
