In response to my last post - “HIGH TREASON REVISITED” - one reader responded as follows:
“I was stunned by the wording of the opening quotation from the Constitution regarding treason:
"Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against THEM, or in adhering to THEIR Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort."
“The first two uses of 3rd-person plural pronouns - “THEM” and “THEIR” - clearly demonstrate America was conceived of and founded as a plurality of entities, not a single entity. This further shows that a centralized cabal in Washington, DC - claiming to be the essential America - is definitely a corruption of the original intent of the Founders. We are a union of “THEYS” — NOT an undifferentiated “IT”.
“But then, what difference does it make?”
My response:
Exactly right. We are not an homogeneous national identity - an "it". We are a "they" - a voluntary collection of distinct sovereign states, who, under certain terms and conditions as specified in our founding documents and according to the doctrine of federalism, have agreed, without extinguishing our sovereign state identities, to band together and create, as a servant of the states and the people - in whom, according to our founding doctrine and black letter law, all power ultimately resides - a subservient central government, with limited and specified powers, to do certain limited things that could be better done by a central government entity - like national defense and foreign trade.
What difference does it make? It may make all the difference. The brilliant letter and spirit of the federalism that enabled the establishment of the nation in the beginning - "e pluribus unum" - may be the only thing that can save us from an out-of-control, totalitarian federal government that has vastly exceeded its constitutional mandate, profligately squanders the people’s wealth, misuses and weaponizes against the people the authority the states and people have granted it, and, flying in the face of the core and founding principle of the nation - individual human liberty - seeks to turn the country away from its founding libertarian doctrine and instead is working to concentrate absolute power in the hands of a few and impose dictatorial controls upon a society of free men and women.
Critically, how we fare in the face of this dictatorial federal onslaught may depend on how much backbone state governments and governors have the courage to bring to bear in asserting their sovereignty and standing up to a seditious, tyrannical, malfeasant, misfeasant central government.
A good example of such spine was recently seen in Texas, where the state, in the face of the federal government's treasonous refusal to enforce federal immigration law - which refusal, resulting in a massive influx of illegals, is causing massive injury to the people of that state - passed a state law making it illegal for unauthorized aliens to cross the border into Texas and allowing the state to take legal action against them.
Under the doctrine of federalism - and especially given the federal government's blatant refusal to enforce the law - Texas, a sovereign state in the federalist system, as a necessary means to protect the interests of Texans being willfully and lawlessly ignored by the federal government, was fully within their rights to do what they did.
Predictably, the feds did not like this rude incursion upon what they clearly and arrogantly deem their absolute, arbitrary power, in gross and seditious violation of their sworn oaths, to ignore willy-nilly and refuse to enforce the law of the land whenever it suits them. Accordingly, the DOJ have threatened to sue Texas and bring the matter to the Supreme Court. Texas - Governor Abbot - is ready for the legal challenge. He is absolutely on the right track. He has the law and the letter and spirit of America's founding behind him. More power to him. God save the great state of Texas.
Interesting times... We will either return to the intellectual, moral and spiritual roots of our founding as a free nation, or we will cave-in to the tyrannical assault and spiral down into slavery, poverty and national oblivion.
Right vs. wrong, truth vs. lies, reality vs. fantasy, law vs. lawlessness, order vs. chaos, liberty vs. tyranny, light vs. darkness, good vs. evil, God vs. the Godless…
Really only just one existential, cosmic line drawn here… Which side are you on?
If you can be fooled, you will be…
These are the times that try men's souls...
Happy New Year, one and all - and what a year it’s going to be! Fasten your seat belts!
