The Gods of This World
A participant in another forum (scroll down) recently cited “research” which purports to show that any Republican candidate maintaining the position that the 2020 election was stolen or that there are fundamental ongoing problems with our electoral process will never be elected. Here below is my response:
"Research shows"? What nonsense. How far does one have to go to find unbiased research on any subject - if indeed it can be found at all - and especially when the subject is as explosive and controversial as the iconoclastic, irreverent Donald Trump and the question of fraud in the 2020 election? What kind of people dominate the research industry? Are they as pure and unsullied as the driven snow, unbiased, determined to get at the truth, or are they hand in glove with the anti-Trump cabal? Need I note that was a rhetorical question?
Let me suggest that this argument - that Republican candidates who take the position that there was fraud in the 2020 election will never get elected - even if it were true - profoundly misses the point and points us in a deadly direction.
The right question concerning allegations of election fraud is not how deeply, for the sake of “pragmatism”, they can be buried, not to what degree Republican candidates should go whoring and misrepresenting their real views on this subject in order to get elected. The right question is not what "research shows", but what is the truth?
Was the 2020 election stolen? Does the truth matter?
Nothing is more fundamental to the definition and reality of our democratic Republic than the sanctity of the people's vote. For the American people and nation, the implications of this question of election theft are nothing short of cataclysmic and existential. If the answer is yes, the election was stolen, and the theft goes challenged, it will certainly be repeated again and again in the future - why would it not be? - and a mortal blow will have been successfully struck at the very heart of our democratic Republic.
If the nation is no longer ruled by the voice of the people, then America, as a nation of free men and women, is dead. It will thereafter be ruled by a nest of liars and thieves who can manipulate the electoral process to produce any result they like.
Now consider this. If you were a part of the election-stealing cabal that had successfully stolen a presidential election and placed themselves in positions of unlimited power and wealth, what would be your primary and overriding concern? Obviously, that the theft never be revealed. You would resort to any and all available means, you would fight tooth and nail to the last ditch to prevent the truth of the theft from coming to light.
In other words, you would do exactly what the leftist Democrats and their elitist henchmen in high places have done every day since November 8th, 2020.
Now imagine - thief and liar that you are - how pleased you would be if you could deflect attention away from your fraud by selling the lie that the theft of the 2020 election must never be spoken of again by any conservative or Republican candidate who wishes to be elected to public office - that if you, the candidate, want to get elected so as to be able to address important issues like an open borders, crime, inflation, etc., you must bury forever the "stop-the-steal" controversy and, indeed, the issue of election integrity in general. That is exactly the satanic Big Lie it is suggested here that we readers and future Republican candidates should be willing to buy into.
This calls to mind the old saw that highlights the art of misdirection, focusing on the unimportant to distract attention from the screamingly important:
"Apart from that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?"
Oh, how sweet it is! If you can persuade people forever to turn a blind eye to the one essential fraud that gives you permanent power over everything else - control of the electoral process - if you can perpetuate your deception by simply throwing out a sop here and there to delude the gullible riff-raff into believing they still have some say, some power - and if you have pulled this off in what was the greatest, freest, most prosperous and powerful nation ever to exist on the face of the earth, then you and your cronies have well and truly established yourselves as the gods of this world.
Indulge me in another Book of Mormon quote:
"For the kingdom of the devil must shake, and they which belong to it must needs be stirred up unto repentance, or the devil will grasp them with his everlasting chains, and they be stirred up to anger, and perish;
For behold, at that day shall he rage in the hearts of the children of men, and stir them up to anger against that which is good.
And others will he pacify, and lull them away into carnal security, that they will say: All is well in Zion; yea, Zion prospereth, all is well—and thus the devil cheateth their souls, and leadeth them away carefully down to hell.
And behold, others he flattereth away, and telleth them there is no hell, and he saith unto them: I am no devil, for there is none—and thus he whispereth in their ears, until he grasps them with his awful chains, from whence there is no deliverance.
Yea, they are grasped with death, and hell; and death, and hell, and the devil, and all that have been seized therewith must stand before the throne of God, and be judged according to their works, from whence they must go into the place prepared for them, even a lake of fire and brimstone, which is endless torment.

There is a fatal flaw in MAGA; stop-the-steal. Research shows (as presented at a recent Hoover conference by their pollsters) that stop-the-steal is virtual kryptonite to swing voters, be they Independents or potential crossovers. The faction of Republicans who endorse a strong border, reduced federal budgets and fewer regulations, etc. will not reach office if they endorse stop-the-steal.
Pragmatism is required here. That is not Trump’s long suit. He seemingly can not get over the 2020 election. Those candidates such as Masters and Bolduc were hung on a cross of election denial.
If Trump cannot get over stop-the-steal he needs to go. Having a “pure” (and that hurts to type) leader who can not get past this issue will only produce more results such as we just saw. This midterm was a true failure for the Republicans. The Dems have nothing to show (open border, crime, inflation, the list goes on) and the Reps failed because they could not get past the stop-the-steal issue. Ridiculous.
