What Do You Think of DJT?
In previous writing I have characterized Donald Trump as a lightning rod that is splitting the nation's political ether. Considering the black-and-white nature of the issues that now divide American society - right vs. wrong, truth vs. lies, light vs. darkness, liberty vs. tyranny, good vs. evil - and, notwithstanding his personal foibles and eccentricities, Trump's intellectual, moral and spiritual positioning on the right side of the issues, I am prepared to make judgments on politicians based solely on their positions in relation to DJT - a president who, against the most intense and seditious opposition, did more, in concrete, measurable ways, for the wellbeing of the nation and people of American in one term than any other president in modern times (with the possible exception of Ronald Reagan, who brought down the “evil empire” of the Soviet Union).
Sir, or madam - you who are seeking political office to represent the American people - what do you think of Donald John Trump?
For me, it's just that simple. The times we live in have reduced and simplified the political world to that one question. The answer tells me everything I need to know about anyone aspiring to political office.
If, politically, you are for DJT, you, based objectively on what the man actually accomplished, are for America. If you are against Donald Trump politically and support those who deceitfully and subversively have opposed him and worked to destroy him when he was president - people who are fighting viciously to prevent him from running again - you, logically, are against what the man did for America politically - no matter how you may have self-righteously deceived yourself into thinking otherwise.
The proof is in the pudding. You cannot separate the man from what he did for the country. Indeed, politically, Donald Trump IS what he did for the country, and nothing else. His personal imperfections - let him who has none cast the first stone - are utterly irrelevant and mean nothing in that political context.
And please don't insult my intelligence by saying, "Well, I don't disagree with what he did for the country, but just can't stand the man personally, so I can’t support him politically." Again, politically, Donald Trump IS what he did for the country. Sorry, Buster, but you can’t have your cake and eat it, too. You can’t honestly or logically separate the man from what he actually did for us.
In the ancient history recorded in the Book of Mormon (Ether 10:10-11), a man named Morianton, an immoral man who was guilty of “many whoredoms”, fought in a civil war, prevailed, and established himself king. Once in power he immediately began to “ease the burden of the people” - so much so that the people soon approved of his rule and freely chose to anoint him their king, notwithstanding the fact that, because of his personal debauchery, he was himself “cut off from the presence of the Lord” - reminiscent, might I say, of many American politicians - some, like JFK, still highly regarded. Should those ancient folks in Morianton’s day have risen up in their self-righteous, sanctimonious fury and opposed the man who, notwithstanding his personal sins, was, politically, doing right by them, enabling them to prosper?
For anyone with a smidgeon of good sense, that is a rhetorical question.
Accordingly, if, because he has personal flaws, you refuse to support politically a man who has done so much for our country in the past and likely will make similar common-sense, salutary contributions in the future if he is re-elected - especially given the disgusting, subversive, lawless, America-hating political alternatives offered up by the Left - you are in my judgment a fool, cutting off your nose to spite your face - adding your bit to the rampant intellectual, moral and spiritual rot in the bones of America.
Catch me another day and I’ll tell you what I really think.
Right vs. wrong, truth vs. lies, light vs. darkness, liberty vs. tyranny, good vs. evil.
Time to pick a side.
If you can be fooled, you will be…
