As I may have mentioned in some past writing, a good while ago I randomly ran across a letter to the editor in the Salt Lake Tribune wondering why, since the platform of the Democrat Party is the quintessential expression of the teachings of Jesus [sic!], there aren't more Democrats in the senior leadership of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS)? I responded with my own letter and question - which, surprisingly, the liberal Trib published - asking this:
Since much of the godless Democrat platform - abortion being the quintessential example - is, in light of commonly accepted Christian doctrine, clearly an abomination in God's eyes, why are there any Democrats at all in the senior leadership of the LDS Church?
By extension, the same question can, in my view, be asked regarding the LDS membership at large. Given the glaring, profound Democrat Party violations and repudiations of the doctrine of Christ as that doctrine is taught in ancient and modern scripture in the LDS Church, as well as in the inspired prophetic tradition of the church from its beginning, how is it possible that there are any Democrats among the membership at all?
The horrific liberal Democrat sacrament of abortion, which arguably sits at the very ideological and emotional center of the Democrat psyche, and which they embrace and defend with a fanatical frenzy, should, alone, apart from any other aspect of godless liberal ideology, be sufficient to convince any member of the LDS Church of the satanic nature of the Democrat Party and its minions.
Good Christians?
This leads me to conclude that the degree of support for liberal politicians - Democrats and RINOs - in predominantly LDS Utah - is a direct measure - albeit a subtle one - of the degree of ignorance of and apostasy from fundamental Christian doctrine and values among members of the LDS Church. In my view, possessed of an enlightened, dynamic understanding of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as taught in the LDS Church, one simply cannot countenance, embrace, support or be associated in the least degree with the satanic abortion-loving organization that is the Democrat Party or view its supporters as anything other than supporters of evil. This is not an instance where good and honest men and women can disagree. It is the glaring confrontation of right vs. wrong, light vs. darkness, good vs. evil.
Just that simple.
Pick your side.
In a recent general conference of the LDS Church, one of the senior leaders, clearly - and understandably - seeking to quell the spirit of contention rising in the church along political lines - the same contention now rising across the whole land - admonished the membership not to take angry issue with or condemn a fellow member just because that member found something in the opposing political party that led him to give his support to it.
Rodney King's question redux: Can't we all just get along? Shouldn't we, as Christians, just all get along?
No, sir, we cannot! Nor should we! The Gospel of Jesus Christ - the doctrine of Jesus Christ - is what it is - God's own truth - and we, as Christians, are obligated before God to embrace and defend it with all vigor, not go all wobbly at the first challenge, happily negotiating and watering down a point here, compromising a point there, in order to keep other people happy.
If ever there was a doctrine requiring people to stand up and call a spade a spade, and live with the consequences of doing so, it is the doctrine of Christ.

ah but, do we not also fail to remember D:C 121:41-46?
41.No power or influence can or ought to be maintained by virtue of the bpriesthood, only by persuasion, by long-suffering, by gentleness and meekness, and by love unfeigned;
42 By kindness, and pure knowledge, which shall greatly enlarge the soul without hypocrisy, and without guile—
43 Reproving betimes with sharpness, when moved upon by the Holy Ghost; and then showing forth afterwards an increase of love toward him whom thou hast reproved, lest he esteem thee to be his enemy;
44 That he may know that thy faithfulness is stronger than the cords of death.
45 Let thy bowels also be full of charity towards all men, and to the household of faith, and let virtue garnish thy thoughts unceasingly; then shall thy confidence wax strong in the presence of God; and the doctrine of the priesthood shall distil upon thy soul as the dews from heaven.
46 The Holy Ghost shall be thy constant companion, and thy scepter an unchanging scepter of righteousness and truth; and thy dominion shall be an everlasting dominion, and without compulsory means it shall flow unto thee forever and ever.
what of Paul who soujourned amongst the pagans and whose acts were more corrupt than today? Do we cast aside our Christianity in trade for our politics? Do we call evil good and good evil and elect men who have done aborrehent behavior in their personal lives and ignored it? Do we select them to lead us? Are we not more guilty than the so aforementioned RINOs?
Bien dit.
