In another forum, one contributor is grumbling again about someone in the forum insulting someone else. He says, "No need to insult anybody... Reflects on your case".
In my view, he misses the point.
When is an insult not an insult?
When someone feels insulted by the truth.
As Frederick Douglas observed, “A gentleman will not insult me, and no man not a gentleman can insult me.”
Ad hominem attack is rightly described as the last refuge of the intellectually, morally and spiritually bankrupt, but speaking of things as they demonstrably are is nothing more than the plain speaking of truth - you know, that stuff that someone once said we "shall know" and, knowing, will be set free.
There is a profound difference between unfounded personal insult - ad hominem attack - and characterizing an individual based on factual information and the positions he or she openly takes and advocates for, especially regarding matters of critical importance to society. One's intellectual, moral and spiritual character cannot be separated from the ideas he espouses, nor can he expect to not to be understood and characterized based on those ideas.
If one is insulted or offended by the speaking of truth - especially truth concerning oneself - or if he self-servingly seeks to hide the truth about anything - especially truth about himself - he is his own victim and, in the cause of truth, deserves to have his deceitful cover blown.
The truth will out, one day to be "shouted from the housetops". What kind of person is afraid of that promised day? The man who positions himself in a hostile orientation to truth has insulted himself, sold his soul for a mess of pottage, and told the world everything they need to know about his intellectual, moral and spiritual character.
The fundamental question - perhaps the great test of life - is how each of us chooses to orient himself or herself to truth and reality - the way things really are and really work. A person of perfect intellectual, moral and spiritual character - I haven't encountered one of those lately, certainly not in the mirror - would be in perfect harmony with every aspect of reality and thus optimize his or her passage through time. However distant, that is a worthy goal, and apparently, according to the Man himself, within reach: "Be ye therefore perfect... even as your Father in Heaven is perfect."
In any case, we are way overdue for plain speaking - especially plain speaking about the destructive, subversive, treasonous ideas some among us embrace and actively promote, and what those ideas inexorably say about the intellectual, moral and spiritual substance of their advocates.
The catalog of such ideas is vast. Here are just a few:
The assertion that "a woman's right to choose" supersedes the sanctity of human life - that men and women should be as libertine as they like, then left free to destroy the new life that results from their debauchery.
The idea that you are good or bad, deserving or underserving, based on the color of your skin - that such divisive race theory must be taught to our children from their earliest years.
The nation-destroying idea that our country's borders should be done away, that illegal aliens invading our country and breaking our laws are morally superior to, more deserving than, and should be supported by the nation's legal citizens.
The idea that gender is not biological but nothing more than a social construct, that you can change your sex just by imaging it to be so - that men can have babies, and if you don't nod your head to this transcendent nonsense and bend the knee in submission, you will be punished.
That our precious little children ought to be sexualized in their early childhood, taught in kindergarten about sex and, regaled there by drag queens and transvestite freaks, encouraged to question their God-given gender, then subjected to so-called "gender-affirming" encouragement and medical treatment often without their parents' knowledge or approval.
The idea that the state should have greater control over children than parents.
The argument that human beings should call a halt to modern civilization, give up all their freedoms and climb back up into the trees and caves in order to save the world from the Big-Lie fiction of man-made global warming - the pseudo-scientific boogeyman of "CLIMATE CHANGE!"
The idea that we, the people, fearing for our lives in the face of a fake, vastly exaggerated "pandemic", should submit like mindless dumb animals to the nefarious doings of a jackbooted, corrupt and evil government/pharmaceutical/medical/media cabal that, in pursuit of wealth and power and caring nothing for human life, seeks to turn us into lab rats and pump us full of poisonous, experimental chemicals that do not remotely do what they were promised to do and have instead caused more death and injury than all other vaccines before them.
The idea that elections should be “controlled” to produce the outcomes preferred by those who can get away with manipulating them.
The idea that our national sovereignty and constitutional government should be overthrown and replaced by an unelected, self-appointed globalist cabal of arrogant, power-hungry egomaniacs who propose to create a Brave New World where you and I and our children "will own nothing, have no privacy and be happy" - a dystopian kind of serfish existence totally alien to human happiness.
Time to call a spade a spade.
Tell me that a person who embraces and promotes any, some or all of these ideas is not a demon, a monster in human form, an enemy to human liberty and a traitor to America. Tell me that such a person does not deserve to be characterized and labeled as exactly that and opposed with all the vigor decent people can bring to bear.
Again, we are not attending a garden party where politeness is the rule and the worst thing one can do is offend somebody's delicate sensitivities with an overdose of candor. This is an ideological street fight - war - and everything that matters, everything decent people hold precious, is at stake.
We are fighting for our freedom, our lives, our families and our posterity.
It all boils down to this, and how all of us will position ourselves:
Right vs. wrong, truth vs. lies, reality vs. fantasy, law vs. lawlessness, justice vs. injustice, order vs. chaos, liberty vs. tyranny, light vs. darkness, good vs. evil, life vs. death, God vs. the Godless...
Take your pick... You can run, but you can't hide.
If you can be fooled, you will be.
These are the times that try men's souls...
