WHO CAN YOU TRUST IN A ROTTING SOCIETY?

Firing up my computer this morning, I found the following article on my MSN.com homepage, first published in the State of Faith newsletter, then in the Deseret News:

WHY DECLING TRUST IS EVERYONE’S PROBLEM

The writer of the piece, a mother, began by lamenting the worry she and her husband felt in finding a babysitter they could trust. She goes on to expand this worry - this concern about the trustworthiness of those around us - to encompass our whole society.

I posted the following in the comment section of this article:

As the great Judeo/Christian intellectual, moral and spiritual pillars of societal enlightenment raised up by our inspired Founders crack and crumble around us, civil society in America - including the level of trust we feel for our fellow citizens - is inexorably in process of coming apart.

The signs of this fundamental decay of the collective American character are all around us, manifest most fundamentally in the rejection of traditional religion (about 63% of Americans are Christian, according to the Pew Research Center, down from 90% in the early 1990s), the corruption of Christian values, abandonment of basic honesty, corruption of sexual morality and the resulting widespread libertinism, the murderous abomination of abortion (euphemistically and satanically referred to as "a woman's right to choose" or "healthcare") , the feminizing of men, the masculinizing of women, the defaming and decay of the institution of marriage (pathetically corrupted and institutionalized by homosexuality and the idea of same-sex marriage), the deliberate sexual corruption, victimization (i.e., exposing infant children to the ineffective, toxic and deadly mRNA vaccine) and sexual mutilation of children (hellishly referred to as "gender-affirming surgery"), the downgrading of the whole idea of family, the near-total depravity of entertainment media, and the pervasive corruption of government from the local level through to the federal.

Beginning with the individual, all of this is the outflow and consequence of the collective intellectual, moral and spiritual corruption of the American soul.

In contemplation of such widespread societal decadence, with all sorts of evil Trojan horses knocking at the door hoping to be admitted and spew their unholy demonic contents into the family precincts, no decent, God-fearing parent in his or her right mind could adopt anything other than a fortress mentality.

Though leadership certainly makes a difference - as we have witnessed to our great hurt over the past four years of the illegitimate, lawless, Godless, treasonous Biden regime - even a well-intentioned reformer like Donald Trump hasn't the power to reach down into the soul of America and bring about the requisite individual and collective change of heart that alone would restore the nation to intellectual, moral and spiritual health.

Other than such a voluntary national repentance - something highly unlikely - I fear nothing short of a searing passage through the fiery furnace of affliction is likely to bring a proud, irreverent and ungrateful America to its knees before the righteous and now offended God that gave the nation life and enabled it to become the greatest nation on earth. I believe that purging - a burning away of the intellectual, moral and spiritual dross among us - is, sooner or later, in one form or another, what lies ahead for America…

Right vs. wrong, truth vs. lies, reality vs. fantasy, knowledge vs. ignorance, order vs. chaos, law vs. lawlessness, patriotism vs. treason, liberty vs. tyranny, light vs. darkness, good vs. evil, happiness vs. misery, God vs. the Godless…
