I recently posted on Substack.com a piece titled What's Up with the Mormons in Utah? One reader was outraged by what I wrote and responded as follows:
"In addition to surprising us with your horrific pictures of beheaded infants, now and then, when it pleases you, and when we least expect it, wouldn't it only be fair to show pictures, in living color, of women being brutally forced, beaten, raped, and killed? Please, as you always harp on, let's have the whole view and both sides of the picture. I dare you to share this with your egocentric, single-minded, Morman male friends. Never, ever, send me those pictures again, or I will block you from my email."
Here below is my response:
Surprised? Why are you surprised? The graphic image of the results of a late-term abortion I provided is representative of a run-of-the-mill event that has happened tens of millions of times and continues to happen every day in our libertine, morally rotten society. It is as common as having your dinner - and is the core sacred sacrament of the Democrat Party - so why be so upset? But, instead of countenancing for an instant the intellectually, morally and spiritually insulting, hackneyed, euphemistic characterizations of abortion as "freedom of choice", "a woman's right to choose", "a woman's control over her own body", "a woman's right to reproductive healthcare" that you may prefer, I believe folks should be made aware of the stark reality of abortion - what abortion really is, what it entails and what it looks like:
And while you make mention of the need to consider "both sides of the picture", I'm not at all clear what exactly you are attempting to argue. What two sides? Seems to me you are comparing apples and oranges. Women who are raped and get pregnant are not remotely comparable to women who freely choose to have sex and get pregnant. Are you trying to say that the millions of abortions that have been performed - the tens of millions of unborn infants that have been and continue to be brutally butchered in the womb - are all - or even predominantly - the result of "women being brutally forced, beaten, raped and killed"? If that is your argument, I believe you are not going to get far with it.
Without a doubt, the abortion industry - not only in the US but around the world - is overwhelmingly based not on the consequences of rape or of women one way or another being forced to have sex against their will, but on society's wholesale abandonment of any standard of sexual morality. If you attempt to argue otherwise, you are being disingenuous. The great preponderance of abortion is certainly based on libertine, immoral women, aided and abetted by equally immoral men, freely choosing to engage in sexual activity, and then seeking to avoid the consequences of that activity by killing an unborn child. These people are murders, destroyers of human lives, and only a demonic sophistry can depict them otherwise.
I have never argued that abortion is an absolute evil and should never happen under any circumstances. I have never argued that a woman who has been raped and become pregnant should be denied an abortion if she wants one. I believe no such woman should be constrained against her will to carry to term a pregnancy that results from rape, and certainly the moral implications of ending such a pregnancy are not at all comparable to the moral depravity of the millions of abortions that attend recreational sex. But when two people choose freely to engage in sexual activity and a pregnancy ensues - that is, a human life results - the same sanctity that attaches to human life anywhere else along its continuum from conception to death attaches to that unborn fetus, as well as should the same moral condemnation for murdering a human being anywhere along that life continuum. Anything else is pure sophistry - evil.
By the way, what is a "Morman"?
