When I fired up my computer this morning, my old reliably anti-Trump MSN.com homepage did not disappoint. Prominently displayed was the following article
27 religious organizations unite to sue Trump administration
This from the article:
"The lawsuit...claims that ICE raids in houses of worship violate federal religious freedom protections by making it harder for faith groups to minister to immigrants and refugees and live out their religious mission."
This lawsuit is ridiculous on its face and betrays gross ignorance of the constitutional laws of the United States. It is certain to be thrown out once it gets into the hands of a judiciary that has a basic understanding of the constitutional rule of law in America.
Simply stated, there is nothing in the Constitution or the rule of law that flows from it that creates anything like religious sanctuaries or exemptions (this is not medieval Europe) where lawbreakers can flee to be safe from enforcement of the duly constituted laws of the land they have broken and continue to break. If you have broken the law in America - as all illegal aliens have - you may expect to be apprehended anywhere, anytime and processed as the law requires. No person and no institution - religious or otherwise - has the right under the law to prevent law enforcement from gaining access to lawbreakers. Creating any such obstruction is itself a violation of the law. This has nothing whatever to do with “religious freedom”. There is no religious freedom to break the law or protect those who do.
Accordingly, except as a grand exercise in self-congratulatory virtue signaling that will reenforce the plaintiffs in their grandiose sense of moral superiority and holier-than-thou compassion - “WE CARE!” - this lawsuit is going nowhere.
Blowing away all the smoke swirling around their holier-than-thou, sanctimonious, self-styled Christian compassion, what these 27 so-called "faith groups" are really arguing with their lawsuit is that their desires and efforts to "minister to immigrants and refugees and live out [our] religious mission" should trump (no pun intended) or take precedence over the just rule of law and its proper, rigorous enforcement in America.
Notice how these wonderful, morally superior people, when speaking of “immigrants and refugees”, always leave out the critical designation ILLEGAL, thus effortlessly redacting from their smug delusional surreality the whole grand, existential issue of the law, abiding the law, enforcing the law and the inconvenient fact that all of these “immigrants and refugees” are lawbreakers.
Historical and philosophical troglodytes, these misguided do-gooders fail to grasp the fundamental organizing and sustaining principle of the American nation - the constitutional rule of law and its just and impartial enforcement. Beating on their self-righteous, do-gooder breasts, they seem oblivious to the fact that the very freedoms that allow them to believe, teach and practice their faiths - indeed, their freedom to bring ridiculous lawsuits like this - freedoms rare in human history and non-existent today in many countries - exist in America only within the context of the constitutional rule of law and its just and rigorous enforcement - the rule of law being the very philosophical identity and lifeblood of the American nation.
As President Trump observed years ago, "Either the law means something, or it doesn't." If, instead of a vigorous, impartial enforcement of the duly constituted laws of the land, we as a society opt for the cafeteria approach to law enforcement - “We'll take this law, but not that one - enforce this one but turn a blind eye to that one” - we will have removed the keystone from the great American national edifice - with an inevitable collapse to follow. If the law means nothing, or next to nothing, America is done.
If we choose this path of arbitrary law enforcement - if we enshrine it in our practice as the corrupt and illegitimate Biden regime did - we will, first of all, have spat in the face of and trashed the entire democratic/republican (little “d” and little “r”) constitutional process and attendant institutions of democratic republican (again, little “d” and little “r”) government that have created the law for us. In other words, since their whole purpose was to create a system of government based on the just rule of law, we will have rejected and overthrown the entire colossal, brilliant work of our Founders and the Framers of the Constitution. - we will have effectively gutted the foundational rule-of-law principle and opted for the random road to chaos.
Why chaos? Just this: if the laws are not to be uniformly, justly and impartially enforced, who then gets to decide which laws will be enforced and which will not? You? Why not me? And, if universal, impartial enforcement of the law has been set aside, what if there is heated disagreement among the people, as there most certainly will be and as there has been during the lawless four years of the Biden regime?
How, outside the rule of law, are such conflicts to be resolved? That, ladies and gentlemen, is a rhetorical question. History richly attests to the answer. This is a recipe for chaos - and ultimately violence - if there ever was one.
The constitutional rule of law and its just and impartial enforcement are the bulwark that protects civil society. Outside that wall, the blood-thirty, power-hungry Pandemonium of unregenerate, unconstrained human nature reigns. What intellectual, moral and spiritual quality of people would be so foolish as to deliberately or ignorantly break down that protective barrier and invite in that ravening beast?
“If the law be down, such a wind will blow in the land that no man can stand.”
- Sir Thomas More
I am reminded here of the many pronouncements of scripture declaring that “God is no respecter of persons” - that the law is to be equally and justly applied to all. Here are a couple:
“You shall do no injustice in court. You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor.” - Leviticus 19:15
Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as ye have not kept my ways, but have been partial in the law. - Malachi 2:9
As exemplified by the 27 so-called “faith groups” who are parties to the aforementioned lawsuit, there are a great many of our fellow Americans (see my earlier posts “IF THE LAW BE DOWN” and “ARROGANCE - THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL”) who, rising up in the great fireball of their self-styled moral superiority and misguided Christian compassion, would happily sacrifice the rule of law on the altar of their vanities, and thus bring catastrophe down on our heads as well as their own.
America will either return to and embrace again the just rule and enforcement of law or continue down a path that leads inexorably to disintegration and national suicide - the end of America as a free and democratic society. Fortunately - and greatly to the credit of the American people who voted them in - we now have national leadership that is working hard to get us back on the law-abiding track.
