In response to my recent Substack post - HOW TO MAGICALLY DEPORT MILLIONS OF ILLEGAL ALIENS - a friend, Fred, in another forum offered the following criticisms:
“Without full state, city and county cooperation your plan will only result in a small percentage of illegal border crossers returning to their home country. I can’t think of one blue state that is willing to cooperate and there are many large crime ridden cities in red states that won’t either. A fairly large portion of those here illegally have support from family already here - in many cases legally, or they receive support from state, city and local governments or charitable organizations. Many will quickly marry American citizens who will support them as they do odd jobs off the books as handymen and landscape workers. Go to just about any Home Depot parking lot in the morning and see how many people are standing around looking for work as day laborers. By noontime, they have all been picked up. It is a huge problem for sure, but I think that Trump’s approach in concentrating on the criminals and gangbangers is a good start. We can pick and choose the others to deport based on their immigration court outcomes. Might even be a way to get their home countries to pay for transportation home either direct reimbursement or reduced foreign aid.”
Fred first observes:
"Without full state, city and county cooperation your plan will only result in a small percentage of illegal border crossers returning to their home country. I can't think of one blue state that is willing to cooperate..."
This goes without saying, is hardly surprising, and has already been clearly demonstrated in public statements made by prominent Democrat governors and mayors. However, this is just another facet of the deeply rooted, corrupt, lawless liberal opposition to Donald Trump and his patriotic America First agenda that has been on display and at work since Trump came down the escalator in 2015 - the treasonous opposition the American people rejected in a landslide on November 5th.
This highlighting of the chasmic differences between the values of DJT and his supporters and the treasonous American left is a good thing. You can't solve a problem you haven't first clearly and accurately defined. Garbage in, garbage out.
As I have argued in the past, one of the great services DJT has rendered the American people is to serve as a lightning rod drawing cosmic fire from the sky and splitting American society along intellectual, moral, spiritual and patriotic lines. This polarization Trump has generated has enabled those of us on the political and patriotic right side of things to "know thine enemy" with a clarity never before seen in our history since the Revolution. Their intellectual, moral and spiritual cover well and truly blown, those aligned against Trump and his electoral college and popular vote majorities have declared they will do everything possible to oppose and thwart him in the exercise of his duties as president - a president, again, elected in a landslide with a true mandate from the people. In so doing, these traitors reveal themselves as not just as political opponents - the political argument was settled decisively on November 5th by democratic means in a free and fair election - but as treasonous enemies of the American people, the Constitution and the rule of law that flows from it.
Measured by the lofty inspired Judeo/Christian values, standards and libertarian philosophy America was conceived and built upon - the constitutional rule of law being the centerpiece of our grand national edifice - these saboteurs are truly the intellectual, moral and spiritual dregs of the nation and enemies of traditional, freedom-loving, law-abiding America - and blatantly so. No more subtle grey areas or finely nuanced differences between the right and the left in America. No more areas where good and decent people on both sides can agree to disagree. We live in a greatly simplified black and white age of rights and wrong, goods and evils, truths and lies, realities and fantasies, law and lawlessness, separated by a vast chasm, determined American patriots courageously dug-in on one edge of the precipice and outright traitors and saboteurs caterwauling on the other. As we gaze across the intellectual, moral and spiritual expanse that separates us from them, we are thus able to see with perfect clarity, as the Chinese saying has it, their demonic, anti-American "true faces and eyes" (看他們真面目).
But back to Fred's assertion that my proposed program for encouraging self-deportation of illegal won't work without the cooperation of blue states and for other reasons. With due respect, I think this assertion is simply incorrect.
As noted, the opposition of blue states and other blue jurisdictions is to be expected. The only pertinent question, in the context of a program like the one I have proposed, is how to counter that opposition.
As noted in my proposal, immigration and the enforcement of immigration law is not constitutionally the province of the states but of the federal government. The federal government, not the states, is responsible to establish immigration law for the entire country and enforce it everywhere in the country.
First, then, as proposed, the aforesaid draconian employment laws and penalties need to be passed at the federal level. These laws and penalties should include not just corporate employers but individual employers as well - those who hire illegals as gardeners, maids, etc.
IF - and this is a BIG IF - the Republicans, who will have control of both houses of congress, are really serious about dealing comprehensively with the illegal immigrant population problem, the necessary laws will be passed. If such laws are not passed, it will be proof that congress is not really serious about solving the problem. On this issue, however Congress approaches it, we, the whole people, are about to be presented with a grand revelation - the grand separation of the truly conservative, Trump-supporting Republican sheep from the spineless RINO goats. On the one hand, those who are truly determined effectively to confront this issue, and, on the other, those who will only pay it lip service.
Assuming the requisite punitive laws are passed and on the books, it will then fall to the federal government to enforce those laws throughout the country, in blue states as well as red. If, in blue states or blue jurisdictions, there is liberal opposition to such federal law enforcement efforts, as some governors and mayors have promised, this behavior should be viewed as the sedition and treason it actually is and responded to with the full force of the federal government, utilizing such sticks and carrots as are at their disposal - such as, as I earlier suggested, cutting off federal funds to recalcitrant states and hauling their sorry lawless heinies into federal court, with fines and jail time, as often as necessary to hammer them into submission to the duly constituted constitutional rule of law. Of course, this won't be easy, and the difficulty of the implementation and enforcement in blue areas only highlights the extent of the treasonous, lawless, Godless liberal rot in the bones of America - rot Trump and his people have vowed to confront and address. On the other hand, I suspect not too many governors or mayors will spend time in jail and pay hefty fines before their like-minded ilk will get the point. As the Borg taught us, "Resistance is futile!"
The real underlying bedrock issue - the ultimately existential issue - at stake in all this has always been the same:
Shall the constitutional rule of law in America stand or be overthrown?
This was the underlying issue when the country stood by in 2020, allowed the duly established election laws in key states to be lawlessly manipulated and trampled upon by the Democrats, and when the people tolerated myriad other Democrat violations and manipulations of election law and procedures across the country, resulting in a stolen election and the ascension to power of the most destructive, anti-American regime in the country's history.
It was the same underlying issue when the treasonous, illegitimate, election-stealing, scofflaw Biden/Harris regime overthrew all Donald Trump's highly effective and legal border control measures and lawlessly welcomed the first lawbreaking illegal alien to trample upon America's sacred rule of law by stepping lawlessly across our border - thus precipitating the present crisis - the still ongoing monumental invasion of millions of unvetted illegal aliens into this country, posing a colossal threat to the physical safety and national security of the American people - a threat unlike anything we have heretofore experienced - and that, too, at the hands of our own traitorous leadership.
This was the underlying issue when the lawless Biden/Harris regime weaponized against their political opponents the nation's sacred institutions of justice and law enforcement.
And the same issue underlying the outrageous deceit and lawless impositions and infringements on the rights and liberties of the people perpetrated by government in the Covid pseudo-pandemic and deadly forced vaccination campaign which caused the unnecessary loss of millions of lives - arguably one of the greatest evils we have ever witnessed within our own borders.
All of this lawlessness constitutes sedition and treason of the highest order, potentially existential in its impact, and, in a sane America, with the just rule of law restored, should and hopefully will be punished for the treason it truly was and is.
Not retribution, not vengeance. Justice. What is now required is a just accountability before the law for those who have broken the law and dealt deadly blows to and shattered confidence in the integrity of our sacred judicial and law enforcement institutions.
We cannot just bury the Democrats' lawlessness and let bygones be bygones. Apart from the fact that they will never stop unless we stop them, they, in their lawlessness, have done far too much damage to our country to just let it be. In the face of the grand tidal wave of lawbreaking the Democrats have sent thundering down upon the people since the illegitimate, election-stealing Biden/Harris regime took power, this - bringing the whole grand concatenation of lawlessness to accountability before the law - is now a mandatory declarative statement the American people must make to themselves and to the whole world:
America is a nation ruled by laws, not men. Here, the law means something. Break the law and you pay a penalty. The law must and will be justly enforced.
In my view, the other issues Fred raises concerning my proposal - things like non-compliant, crime-ridden cities, marriages of convenience, support for illegals from charitable organizations, etc. - are insignificant in face of the need to create an overall rigorous structure in law and law enforcement to deal effectively with and remove the incentives that presently encourage and sustain illegal immigration and the existing population of illegal immigrants. Hard muscle needs to be put on the bones of the previously stated good intentions. Put the overall structure in place so everybody sees it and understands it, and the side issues, such as those Fred mentioned, will be easily resolved.
Obviously, there is low-hanging fruit. The first things to be done are to close the border, cut off all federal financial aid to illegals - do this and watch the charitable institutions immediately begin to think twice about making up the difference - and launch a massive roundup of criminal illegals and those - more than a million - who have standing deportation orders against them. As Fred notes, this is a good place to start.
But, if the rule of law matters, that truly is just a start. A well-structured program, such as the one I have suggested, designed to address and ferret out the broader, more deeply entrenched group of immigration lawbreakers, needs to be put in place. They all must be held to account. The problem cannot effectively be addressed willy-nilly on a random, piece-meal basis, catch a few here, catch a few there.
When asked, I think on Fox News, whether children would be separated from their parents in the deportation program, the newly appointed Border Czar, Tom Holman, pointed out that, in our judicial system, convicted criminals are regularly separated from their families. Illegal immigrants are law-breaking criminals. When asked whether, say, qualified doctors, here illegally, would be deported (I really doubt there are many of those), Holman, getting to the root of the matter, said, "If you're here illegally, you have broken our laws and you have a problem."
As Trump observed long ago, "Either the law matters, or it doesn't." A blind-folded Lady Justice, like God, is “no respecter of persons” and does not ask, "What college degree do you hold? What job are you doing?" She only asks, "Have you broken the law? What is the evidence for and against you? And, if you have broken the law, what penalty does the law prescribe?"
Notwithstanding their heretofore lip service to the problem, this question still remains to be answered: how serious is the Trump Administration in solving the problem of the illegal immigrant population that poses a physical threat to and is devouring the resources of the legal citizenry? Will they only give the appearance of solving it or will they actually get it done? Whether or not there is put in place by the new guys a well-thought-out, well-structured, thorough-going, comprehensive program like the one I have proposed - able broadly to disincentivize and roust out illegal alien lawbreakers in our society and economy across the board - will reveal how serious they are about really getting the job done. It will take some spine, but DJT has some of that.
I am encouraged. Trump has a good track record doing what he promises to do - but, admittedly, this is a tough one. Time will tell...
